What it means
The visible surface runs at around five and a half thousand degrees Celsius. The corona above it, the pearly halo visible during a total eclipse, reaches a million or more. Heat flowing outward from a fire does not do that, so something else is depositing energy up there, probably tangled magnetic fields snapping into simpler shapes. The Parker Solar Probe was built to fly into the corona and find out.
