What it means
Films show a boulder field to be dodged. The reality is a scattering of rocks separated on average by hundreds of thousands of kilometers, in a ring wider than the distance from here to the sun. Every probe sent to the outer planets has crossed it without a special maneuver and without incident. Gathering every asteroid into one body would still not make anything as large as our moon.
