What it means
Measured wind speeds there run past two thousand kilometers an hour, which is puzzling because Neptune receives so little sunlight to drive its weather. Something internal must be supplying the energy. The planet radiates more heat than it absorbs from the sun, and that leftover warmth from its formation is the leading candidate for what keeps the atmosphere moving.
