Solved cryptogram
Skin is an organ, and by weight it outweighs the liver and the brain in a typical adult.
Biology Facts, sourced to MedlinePlus.
What it means
It runs to a few kilograms in an adult and covers close to two square meters. It is not simply a wrapper either. Skin regulates temperature, blocks pathogens, senses pressure and heat, resists water loss and manufactures vitamin D when sunlight falls on it. The outer layer is entirely replaced every few weeks, which is where a good deal of household dust comes from.
The claim comes from MedlinePlus, and the page it comes from was read on 2026-08-27 to confirm it still says this.
This is not the kind of claim that goes out of date, which is why it was set as a puzzle rather than a fact with a shelf life.
