What it means

Adenosine triphosphate is the common currency of biological energy. Muscle contraction, nerve firing, protein assembly and active transport all draw on it. A person holds only a small quantity at any moment, on the order of a few tens of grams, and turns over something close to their own body weight in it over a day, because each molecule is recharged and reused thousands of times.

The claim comes from NCBI Bookshelf.
