What it means
He predicted an element below silicon, named it eka-silicon, and published its expected weight, density, color and the formula of its oxide. Germanium was isolated seventeen years later and matched the prediction closely enough to settle the argument about whether the table was a filing system or a law of nature. A table that only organizes what you already have cannot tell you the density of something nobody has ever held.
