What it means
A cage of sixty carbon atoms, arranged exactly like the panels of a soccer ball, earned a Nobel Prize in chemistry and was named after the architect who built geodesic domes. Peeling a single layer off graphite gives graphene, which is one atom thick, transparent, and stronger for its weight than steel. Same element as the coal in a grate and as the stone in a ring, arranged differently again.
