What it means
Take a cylinder and join the two ends, but with a flip, the way a Moebius strip joins the ends of a ribbon. The result is a surface with one side, so an ant could walk from any point to any other without crossing an edge. Glass models sold as Klein bottles cheat: the neck passes through the wall, which the real surface does not do. Four dimensions are needed to make room for the join.
