What it means
The pair is equal in size and opposite in direction, and the two forces act on different objects, which is the part that gets lost. They do not cancel each other, because they are not applied to the same thing. Your push moves you; the Earth's push on you is what the Earth feels, and it is far too small to shift a planet. Walking, swimming, flying and rowing are all the same trick of pushing something the other way.
