What it means

They differ in wavelength and in nothing else that matters. All of them are oscillating electric and magnetic fields, all travel at the same speed in a vacuum, and all obey the same equations, written down by Maxwell before most of the family had been observed. What changes across the range is how they interact with matter, which is why a radio wave passes through a wall, visible light does not, and an X-ray goes through you but not through lead.
