What it means

Temperature says how energetic each particle is. Heat is how much energy there is to hand over, and that depends on how many particles there are. A sparkler throws off specks at well over a thousand degrees, and each speck is so small that it has almost no energy to deliver before it cools. A bath at forty five degrees has kilograms of water behind it. The two quantities are routinely confused and they are not the same measurement.
